Daniel Whiston on five years of growth /

Congratulations to our Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary, Daniel Whiston, on his five-year anniversary with NS Group!

Daniel hails from Cape Town in South Africa where he started his tertiary studies and commenced his career in public practice. Following a move to London to further his career, he landed a corporate role in the Asset Management division of HSBC, one of the world’s largest financial institutions, providing invaluable experience in a multinational organisation. In 2004, Daniel and his wife immigrated to Australia and have been fortunate to call Perth home ever since.

Since joining NS Group in 2014, Daniel has become a pillar of strength within the company with remits for finance, administration and human resources. His priorities are to drive business growth, strategy and staff professional development.

Daniel said that during his time with the company, it has been very rewarding to be involved in helping the business to grow wings beyond its headquarters in Perth to become a nationally recognised business – opening offices in three major Australian cities over the past four years.

NS Group now has an established presence in five capital cities across the nation, including Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Darwin.

“We are very fortunate to have fantastic clients who value what we do and continue to support us as we grow nationally,” he said.

“Whilst the business becomes slightly more complex because of this interstate growth, the opportunities it creates for our people is very exciting.

“I’m pleased that the Group is truly aspiring to achieve its vision of becoming Australia’s most valued development partner.”

Daniel attributes the company’s success to the calibre of its staff and a focus on looking after its people.

He said, “The company is filled with such diverse and talented people – people who want to make a difference, who are continually striving to improve how we operate and how they can best support our clients, make it a great place to work.”

He is particularly proud of a recent company initiative which gives staff an additional day of leave to enjoy their birthday.

“The introduction of this initiative highlights the proactive approach to new ideas and employee well-being – it ensures all our staff get an extra day off on their special day, to enjoy it as they please and to share it with their loved ones.”

When asked about what the future holds for NS Group, Daniel said, “We’re committed to implementing our strategic plan over the next three to five years and, if we get it right, it’ll be an exciting place to work!”
