The Edith Cowan University [ECU] Joondalup campus is the University's largest metropolitan campus which delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses and research in eight areas, including engineering.
The Engineering Annex [Building 27] Stage 2 added over 2,500 square metres of laboratory and office space for the School of Engineering to accommodate the introduction of Petroleum Engineering and Maritime Engineering disciplines, and to cater for the forecast increase in engineering students.
The building included a total of seven new laboratories, each designated as 'smart labs' whereby a secondary building monitoring and control system was provided to allow students to manipulate the building’s mechanical and lighting systems.
Our Role /
NS Group was engaged by ECU as Project Manager and Superintendent.
Our role commenced with development of the functional brief and included appointment of the consultant team, obtaining all environmental and planning approvals, and contractor procurement at the end of the design phases. To overcome programme constraints, we released forward works packages for civil and in-ground services ahead of the main contract.
