Mike Yates celebrates a decade of challenge and growth /

Whether Senior Project Manager Mike Yates is running a marathon, competing in an ironman event or managing a multi-million dollar construction project – and everything in between – he takes it all in his stride. We congratulate Mike on achieving 10 years with NS Group!

Since joining the company in 2010 following a stint in a leading engineering firm as Mechanical Project Engineer, Mike has been involved in a wide range of projects where his complementary technical background has added considerable value. At NS Group, he has honed his project management skills and excels in environments involving multiple stakeholder groups.

Mike said, “I work with a great team to deliver projects that shape our nation for the better.”

“I call myself fortunate to have been involved on some big projects that have shaped metro and regional Western Australia: Fiona Stanley Hospital, Yagan Square and Karratha Health Campus to name a few,” he said.

“I’m really proud to have worked on these sorts of projects, particularly given the way they provide a space or service that supports, and is valued by, our community.”

Mike believes that out-of-the-box thinking to solve complex problems combined with a noticeable shift to more collaborative working environments across the industry are enabling better outcomes for clients and their projects.

Over his 10 years with the company, he has seen the business grow and evolve first-hand with east coast offices opened in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in recent years.

He highlights the importance of NS Group’s focus on a positive, social and team-oriented workplace culture where all staff get involved in community initiatives and sporting events.

Mike said, “I enjoy working with colleagues who offer different strengths and experiences to elevate problem-solving and decision making – we’re always up for a challenge!”

Commenting on what’s over the horizon, he said, “Where do we stop? The diverse backgrounds across our team have us well-positioned to keep expanding and embrace whatever the future brings.

“Opportunities will always present themselves if you’re looking for them; grab the reigns and go with them.”

“I enjoy working with colleagues who offer different strengths and experiences to elevate problem-solving and decision making – we’re always up for a challenge!”
