NS Group gives the gift of education in New South Wales /

NS Group is delighted to sponsor a high school student in New South Wales through The Smith Family’s flagship ‘Learning for Life’ program.

With an estimated 1.1 million children and young people living in poverty across Australia, too many can fall behind in their learning, leaving them more vulnerable to experiencing hardship later in life.

The ‘Learning for Life’ program recognises that disadvantaged children need extra support to stay at school and go on to further studies or a job. It provides students with financial assistance through a sponsorship, support from a program coordinator and access to educational programs.

NS Group’s sponsored student is currently in Year 10. She said that when she is older, she would like to be a counsellor or a nurse because she has compassion towards other people’s feelings and likes helping people.

As the Director responsible for NS Group’s Community corporate portfolio, Damian Fasher said, “The decision to support The Smith Family made sense when we were looking for a charity to align with our national presence.”

“The Smith Family and NS Group share similar values and the importance of education resonates with us – we also believe in the power of education as a key pathway to future success.”

“Our mission is to connect, empower and lead people to create great places,” Damian said.

“As a company priority, we actively encourage our staff to grow their skills and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.

“In our property advisory, development and project management work with clients, we always have the bigger picture in mind as the outcomes of these projects often flow beyond the immediate stakeholders to impact surrounding neighbourhoods and communities.”

He said, “As a community-minded organisation, we always seek opportunities to contribute whenever and wherever possible.”

“If we can help others to build brighter futures and stronger communities, then we’re 100% on board.”

In addition to this student sponsorship, NS Group is also proud to be supporting The Smith Family through contributing to learning programs for Indigenous students in the Northern Territory.

NS Group also supports other educational initiatives, such as awarding prizes to top project management and construction management students at Curtin University in Western Australia.

“As a community-minded organisation, we always seek opportunities to contribute whenever and wherever possible. If we can help others to build brighter futures and stronger communities, then we’re 100% on board.”
